Looking for a trail running event in Belgium that feels bigger than one race day? Crossing Belgium runs from coast to Ardennes on 12–15 November 2026.

Looking for a trail running event in Belgium that's more than one day of suffering, one shower and Monday back in the routine?

Crossing Belgium is that kind of event.

On 12–15 November 2026 you cross Belgium with your team: from the coast deep into the Ardennes. Trail is a solid backbone in that story, but the story is bigger: four days, multiple disciplines, real team strategy and guided technical challenges.

Crossing Belgium: the practical essentials

If you already run trail, you want to know quickly what you're getting into. These are the key points.

When is it?

Crossing Belgium runs from 12 to 15 November 2026. The start is in the evening at the coast and you finish on Sunday afternoon in the Ardennes. All details on Practical.

What is the format?

Crossing Belgium is a 4-day expedition raid with around fifteen stages. That means: no "one long run", but a build-up in pieces, with a different dynamic each time.

  • Sometimes you run.
  • Sometimes you cover kilometres on the bike.
  • Sometimes you're in or around the water.
  • Sometimes you arrive at a technical challenge where you learn something new.

Route: coast → Ardennes (no spoilers)

You cross Belgium in one line: from dunes to forests, valleys, rivers and rocks. Read the day-by-day story on The route.

Team format: 3+1 (team of 4)

This is the gamechanger for trail runners who "have the motivation" but aren't necessarily specialists in every discipline. You start with 4 people. Per section, there are 3 active and 1 in support. After each discipline you can rotate.

That means in practice:

  • someone can recover briefly without blocking the team
  • you can play strengths (endurance runner, diesel, planner, calming presence)
  • you avoid one person blowing themselves up on day 1 and being "done" after

What do you need to be able to do?

Crossing Belgium is built for sporty recreational athletes with healthy base fitness. On the practical page you'll find clear guidelines (swimming, running, walking and cycling) so you can gauge whether this fits.

Why trail runners love this event

You do trail because you want more than a road race. This event takes that logic further:

  • longer story (not one day)
  • real terrain variation (coast, forest, Ardennes)
  • real teamwork
  • guided but not overprotected
